I forgot to mention a few details in my last post about the background of Longing (If you haven’t seen that post, follow the link at the bottom of this post). So, here are some more details on the song.
A few things I didn’t mention were about the music for Longing. Longing’s music evolved a little more as I learned more in college. Originally there was no guitar solo, but after learning more about song form, I looked at Longing and decided there was a part where I could put one in. That solo is pretty much the first solo I have ever tried writing.
Another thing I didn’t mention was about the lyrics for Longing. Just like the music, they evolved over time too. There was originally only two verses, but after some life experience in the dating world, I wanted to write some of the emotions I was feeling into a song. I thought about putting those into a new song, but in my head it was like I was hearing the words with Longing. So I decided to add more to Longing and the third verse was added.
