Behind the Scenes: New Hope

New Hope is an instrumental piano song. It came about when I was a teenager. I was just messing around on the piano one day when I found the main part of the song. It came with this feeling of hope to me, so I wrote it down and worked on getting it wrote. I titled New Hope because of the feeling I felt with it.

Fast forward some years, to when I started looking at the song list for my second album Hope, I thought about the story I wanted to tell on the album and I thought about the title track, or the first track to be on the album. New Hope had always been a part of the album because of the feeling I had always had with the song and it’s title. It would also put something a little more consistent to my music, as on my first album, Dreams and Journeys I also had a couple instrumental piano songs. There were a few other songs I thought about for the first song for Hope, but they didn’t go as well with the story. So, I thought about New Hope. While it didn’t have any lyrics to describe a general idea of what hope is (which is what I had originally wanted to have as the first song on the album), it did fit the album because of the feeling I’d always felt with it. So, it became the title track to the album.

In the next post, I’ll mention the album art, a little bit about how it came about and why I chose it.
