Updates

As I said before (in a previous post), I was going to tell more about What I Can See (2020) that is going to be releasing at the end of November. It was originally released on my first album Dreams and Journeys two years ago (as of a couple days ago). So, what is different about the 2020 version of What I Can See?

A lot. The song itself has not really changed other than the new verses and choruses. But the recording and mixing changed a lot. Pretty much the recording was redone for the instruments and vocals. Also, I took a different approach to the mix than what I had done previously. I took what I have been learning in college and put it into the song.

Originally, I was not expecting to have ideas for What I Can See or other songs from my first album. I thought they were complete and done. That I had done what I could with them and that maybe years later I might revisit them or that I would not do anything with them again. At college is where I remember the new lyrics came to me. When I started studying Music Technology in college, my perspective changed a little bit. I was able visualize in my head where Skateagy could go. This helped inspire the lyrics.

When What I Can See, was originally released I put up a little bit about the meaning of the song. How it was someone from the outside looking in, trying to figure out what you wanted to be and what you want to do. I also mentioned another part of the meaning, but I did not go into detail about it. So, here is that other part.

What I Can See, is about not always being able to see where you can go, but eventually figuring it out. It is mainly that feeling expressed of having lots of thoughts/influences that are in your head and wondering what you should do. It expresses trying to sort all of this out in your head and decide what you should do. Although you kinda feel blind for where you can go in life, and what is right for you to do in life (or what you should do). The new verses and choruses express the part that comes next; after you have figured out which voice in your head, you should listen to (after gaining some experience in life). It expresses being able to start visualizing where you are going because a few things in life are starting to come together. So, you aren’t as blind to what you should do in life or where you are going.

So, this is what makes the new version of What I Can See different from the original one and a little bit more about the lyrics. Again, it will be releasing in late November and I’ll post more details on the release date soon.
